When life seems like a hurricane, in the midst of chaos, tribulation, distress and suffering we are to abide in the Lord in the eye of the storm, the small zone of calmness and in God’s perfect peace. There His victory also abides. Jesus has overcomed the world and since we join Him in His inheritance, we are victorious and are to be confident, undaunted and filled with joy. John 14:27 tells us to not let your heart be troubled, nor afraid but let His perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge. Your flesh and heart may fail but remember God is in control, He is the rock and strength of your heart and your portion forever (Psalm 73:26).
When we go to God and cry out to Him, through prayer with thanksgiving, casting all our cares on Him, we are able to have perfect peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7) and because His presence shall go with us, He will give us rest (Exodus 33:14). Psalm 91:1-2 shows us we are to dwell in the shelter of the Most High, there, we will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty whose power no enemy can withstand; He is our refuge and fortress, our God in Him we will trust. He alone is our rock and salvation, our defense and strong tower; we should not be shaken or disheartened (Psalm 62:2). Keep your mind steadfast, committed and focused on God in both inclination and character and then you will keep in perfect and constant peace (Isaiah 26:3).
Set your mind on things of above, how good God is, all the good He has done and is doing. Our God is the God of love and peace, the source of lovingkindness (2 Corinthians 13:11) and He promised us that when we are weary and heavily burdened, He will give us rest (Matthew 11:28). 2 Corinthians 12:9 shows us that God’s grace is sufficient for us, His lovingkindness and mercy are more than enough and always available, regardless of the situation. As believers in Christ Jesus, peace supposed to be our normal condition since the Holy Spirit lives in us and one of the fruits of the Spirit is peace. Therefore, we have access to divine peace at any time and because we believe, we are seated with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). Worry, doubt and unbelief work against your peace so loose all these things from your soul in Jesus’ Mighty Name.
1 Peter 3:11 instructs us that we are to turn away from wickedness and do what is right in His eyes and to actively search for peace with God, self and others and pursue it eagerly. Proverbs 16:7 further states that when a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
A special prayer for you:
I pray now that the Lord of peace Himself grant you His peace at all times and in every way (2 Thessalonians 3:16) and may mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance (Jude 1:2). I pray that you overcome all temptation, turn from evil and do good and that you seek peace and pursue it earnestly (Psalm 34:14). May the Lord bless you, and keep you, protect you, sustain you, and guard you. May the Lord make His face shine upon you with favor, and be gracious to you, surrounding you with lovingkindness. Also, may the Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you with divine approval, and give you peace, a tranquil heart and life (Numbers 6:24-25). I pray this over you in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
