Matthew 6:19-21 NLT, “Do not store up treasures here on earth…Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will be also”.
Our focus in this life is to store up our treasures in heaven, there our hearts will be and where our life will be centered and not on attaining the materialistic things of this world. Jesus said in John 17:16 that we are not of this world just as He is not of this world. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matthew 16:26) Matthew 6:24 NKJV states, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”
1 Timothy 6:10 NKJV also states, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Money and riches aren’t the problem, but the love of it is the root of all evil.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we are children of Almighty God therefore joint heirs with Christ with an inheritance. Romans 8: 16-17 states, “…we [believers] are children of God. And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory”. Our inheritance and treasures according to 1 Peter 1:4, that are stored and reserved in heaven are incorruptible and undefiled and will not fade away; they are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
We as children of God, are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that we may proclaim the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). We are royalty in God’s kingdom; we are kings and not servants. God’s will be for us to think and live this way not in a state of struggle and poverty. According to Prophet Tracey Cooke poverty is a spirit not a problem; problems you can solve but spirits you must cast out in the name of Jesus and by the blood of Jesus.
