One thing most people if not all, what they desire is to be loved. They search the world for this love. They try to find it in other people. They try to feed their flesh to find this love through material things, sex, drugs, alcohol and other worldly things. Yet they could never find it.
They feel unsatisfied, unloved, like something is missing and they don’t know what it is. What makes things worse is when they search the world for this love, many times the people in it betray, abandon, abuse and hurt them. Now these people are left feeling alone, abandoned, rejected, hopeless, useless and depressed. The enemy then breaks you down even more and feed you constant lies that you are indeed these things and you should hurt yourself and/or others or worse, end your life.
The enemy knows that by distracting you or by taking you out of this earth you can’t fulfill your God-given destiny and purpose. Afterall, the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy you but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). The enemy fights against God’s Absolute Truth that we, as Christians, must stand for and represent in this fallen world.
Jesus is the (only) Way (to God) and the (real) Truth and the (real) Life; no one comes to the Father but through Jesus (John 14:6).
Satan strives to keep us ignorant of what the Absolute Truth is that is found in our Bible. The Absolute Truth that God sent His only begotten son into this world as a living and pure sacrifice so that our relationship could be reconciled with Him. Jesus came willingly, He as God humbly became a man and out of pure and unselfish love, He came to suffer and die for our salvation. He came so that we may have life not half-way but have it in abundance.
He gave His life for us. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friend (John 15:13). Jesus laid down His life for each and every person and He gave us free will so that we could recognize His love for us and choose Him. God is a gentleman, He will never force us to do anything but instead try to gently lead, guard, guide and direct us along the right paths. We could never find this kind of love in the world. Why look to the world when we could look upon and turn to God who very being is love.
1 John 4:7-12
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
God showed how much He loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
Certain people may be very difficult to love but we are commanded by Jesus to love. John 13:34-35 says, “a new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another, by this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
One thing to keep in mind is that when someone shows you their true self, believe it. Don’t try to change them only the Holy Spirit can do that, your duty is just to show them the way. All you could do is guide them on the right path and pray for them. It’s their choice to choose the light or continue to live in darkness. Keep in mind, the fault is on their part not your own. God showed me this truth as I used to feel very guilty if I shared Christ with someone and they still chose the darkness. I now definitively know what’s my part and what’s His part.
I asked God recently that since we are to love others as He loved us, with an unselfish and unconditional love, where do we draw the line in a relationship where we say no, I’m being taken advantage of. The thing is God is love and mercy, but He is also judge and ruler of all. He knows all, sees all and is ever-present.
He reminded me that we are commanded to love like Jesus (John 13:34-35) and be obedient to God, that’s our part and if He sees we are being treated unfairly then He will interject and tell us and/or try to show us in many ways, that’s His part. If we do not heed His warnings, He may even cause things to happen to take us out of the situation but at that point we must still choose to follow Him and His will and way when He opens our eyes.
We are commanded to love, and we are to leave the rest up to Him.
In our daily lives we should always exercise Godly wisdom and live by what the Bible says since the Bible has every answer to any problem you could ever encounter. Romans 12:19 states, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
Know we serve a God that will not allow us to be taken advantage of. He is our vindicator and our redeemer. He will deliver you from the hands of your enemy. He is always willing to, but you need to choose Him and make Him Lord over your life.
God made us to love us. Imagine being God whose very essence and being is love, full of love, and not being able to share it? He made us as His family to love us and have fellowship with us. Yet even before the beginning of time He had a plan to redeem us back to Himself.
For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was His plan from before the beginning of time—to show us His grace through Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 1:9).
Jesus came to show us how to live, how to love and how to overcome and be victorious. He wasn’t born in a king’s house or a mansion but in a humble manger by a virgin and to a godly couple who put their trust in Him. He came into this world as a sinless and spotless lamb and He left the same way.
The only difference is that at the cross He paid the heavy price for our sins and became sin and died for us. For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).
After the 400 years of silence between the Old Testament and New Testament when God did not speak to His people because of their disobedience, in His perfect timing He spoke again to prepare the way for His son through John the Baptist.
“She will give birth to a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus (The Lord is salvation), for He will save His people from their sins.” All this happened in order to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet [Isaiah]: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel”—which, when translated, means, “God with us”.” (Matthew 1: 21-23)
No matter how long you’ve spent away from God, living in sin and disobedience like the Israelites, feeling so out of touch from God and like He has been so silent, He promised to never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). He is Immanuel, He is with us, He came to save us, He chose us but now we must choose Him and keep choosing Him in the way we live our lives.
When Jesus came, we were no longer under the law but after he was Resurrected, we became under the law of grace. Where our sins were washed away clean, white as snow. The Bethlehem star shone bright as the light of the world came to deliver His people from the darkness, from death, hell and the grave.
There’s no greater love than the love of God for us. He gave everything just so that He could restore our relationship with Him when we were the ones who betrayed Him. He did nothing wrong, but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
The Old Testament served the purpose of causing us to realize that no works could cleanse us or save us, that we indeed needed a savior. There’s nothing we could do and give to Him that could repay God for what was accomplished on the cross. With this free will, all God could do is try to woo us unto Him, but we need to choose Him over the darkness this world has to offer.
Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News (2 Corinthians 4:4). Only darkness could come out of this world and as the end grows nearer, the darkness grows stronger but we as the church our light is meant to get brighter and brighter and pierce that darkness. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5).
When you are born again Jesus’ light shines bright within you transforming you into a new man, overcoming the darkness you lived in and that engulfed you. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has passed away; behold, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Jesus came and bought us at a high price so glorify God in your body (1 Corinthians 6:20). Therefore, our lives are not ours but it’s His. When we make Jesus Lord over our life, we do what is pleasing to Him in what we say, do and think, that means He dictates our lives in how we speak, dress, eat and how we overall live.
All our wants and desires are His. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4), this means it’s when you delight in Him, He will put His desires in your heart. He knows you better than you know yourself for He created you so He knows what would truly make you fulfilled and happy. Trust Him and delight in Him, cast and release all your cares upon Him for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
He is our shepherd, and we are his sheep. Sheep were never meant to carry any load; it was always the shepherd carrying the load for his sheep. Give it to God and once you have fully given it to Him watch Him work wonders more than you could ever ask, think or imagine according to His power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20).
Know that God will never give you more than you could bear (1 Corinthians 10:13), in the good and the bad if He knows it will destroy you or carry you far away from Him.
Jesus is perfect, we on the other hand, are imperfect beings but with Him we are perfect. He is the discerner of hearts, so He knows when you are truly repentant and are truly for Him and knows you’re speaking the truth when you say you make Him Lord over your life.
I pray that you realize that there’s no greater love and sacrifice that the world has ever known and will ever know, that’s the Love of God our Father and His son Jesus Christ for us. With this realization, make the choice to choose Him daily, give your life back to Him and fully commit yourself to Him.
For He made himself to be yours so that you could be His. No greater love has the world ever known as the love of our God for us.
Familiarity breeds contempt. As Christians we tend to take the love of God for granted but instead, we should continually be reminding ourselves of why Jesus came, what He accomplished on the cross and that we serve an awesome God whose love for us endures forever and because of what he did for me I want to do right for Him and live a life pleasing to Him.
There’s a false doctrine out in the world of hyper-grace meaning that you could do all the wrong you want and you would be forgiven. Agreed that because we are still human and are imperfect beings we will make mistakes eventually, but the question lies if we are truly repentant of the sin and turn away from it and if we truly regret it in our hearts and are willing to work with the Holy Spirit to not do it again. If we ask for forgiveness and know we are going to do it again same time next week then we are truly fooling ourselves and are making a mockery of God.
“Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of His wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.” (Romans 6: 1-2, 16)
When Jesus came, He brought the light, it’s our job to nurture and grow the light within us as born-again believers, by reading the Bible praying, worshipping, spreading the gospel, loving our God and others and doing all what He told us to do in His word. This way we allow others see Jesus and His light upon us so that they could say that they want what we have. They want that special light that they’ve been missing and searching everywhere for and can’t find in this world. Then that’s your opportunity to point them to the cross, the gospel of Jesus Christ and toward the light of the world. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” (John 8:12).
Recommit yourself to Him this day and allow Jesus to fill you with His light and the Holy Spirit so that you can share Christ with others, this Absolute Truth of the greatest love the world has ever known, this great love of our Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ.
You may be going through many trials and tribulations right now and may not feel very loved but know that He loves you dearly. Remember, He will never leave you nor forsake you and He has great plans for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11), if you only choose Him.
As long as you do God’s will and live a life pleasing to Him, He will take care of you. In all things, know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). How do you know if you’re called? When you’re born-again and truly make Him Lord over your life, that’s when you are called.
“For He chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves.” (Ephesians 1: 4-6)
Don’t look to the world but look up to the cross and it’s there you’d find true love, the truest and purest love you could ever know and experience. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (1 John 3:1)
Galatians 4:4-5: “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.”
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters, so let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth (1 John 3:16, 18).
Recommit your life today to Jesus by saying this prayer below and let your light shine, overcoming the darkness and bring others to Christ!
Heavenly Father thank you for loving me so much that you gave your only begotten Son, so that when I believe in Him, I should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Jesus, I believe in you and I thank you for coming to save me and all you accomplished on the cross. Jesus Christ, I believe in my heart you are the son of God, the savior of the world. You suffered, died and was buried and on the third day you were resurrected from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of God. You are Lord and I make you Lord over my life. I commit and dedicate my life to you, I present my body to you as a living sacrifice, use me for your glory and honor. Holy Spirit help me to live a life that is pleasing to God in all I say, do and think. Father let my light shine and pierce the darkness of this world. Help me to always have a fiery passion to nurture and grow your light that is a precious treasure within me. Thank you that because I have this great treasure and power within me, when I am pressed on every side by troubles, I am not crushed, I may become perplexed, but not driven to despair, I may be hunted down, but never abandoned by you and when I get knocked down, I am not destroyed (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). For you are with me and I know you will never leave me nor forsake me. I love you. I am yours and You are mine. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
